Submission is free but requires an account and passes a manual plugin review that checks guidelines and code quality. Ratings, reviews and active-install counts all drive in-directory discovery.

Links are platform-controlled and reported nofollow, and no traffic figure is published. This only applies if you actually ship a compliant free plugin — but when you do, dashboard-level distribution is hard to match.
